Comprehensive Plan and Vision Zero Update
On February 15th, a Joint Community Workshop was held in City Hall for the City's Comprehensive Plan Update and the Vision Zero Action Plan initiative. Public participation plays a vital role as each project seeks to address our community's future planning and development.
Last year, the Council hired RVi Planning to help manage the City's first major update to its Comprehensive Plan in over ten years. This effort will set forth policies related to growth, public infrastructure, the environment, transportation, and other important topics for the City over the next 20+ years. Then, in the Fall of 2023, the City started working with MetroPlan Orlando, VHB, and Cambridge Systematics to create a Belle Isle Vision Zero Action Plan. This plan allows City Staff, residents, and elected officials to strategize ways to reduce traffic fatalities and severe injuries, creating safer roads for residents and commuters who travel throughout the City and Central Florida annually.
Planning Director Stephen Noto with RVi Planning shared, "The City of Belle Isle is a very unique residential community, reminiscent of the Brady Brunch, whose unique characteristics should be celebrated and highlighted within its policy documents. [RVi Planning] appreciated the turnout to the Community Meeting and the interactions we were able to have with the City's leadership and residents. The City has a lot of pride in its community and wants to do everything it can to protect it. We feel confident that our policy recommendations [for the Comprehensive Plan update] will mirror the community's desires and help guide the City over the next several decades."
We encourage residents and local businesses to visit the link (or scan this QR Code) below for more information about the Comprehensive Plan update. We have an online survey available to help shape the outcome of policy recommendations to the City Council for the Comprehensive Plan.

Residents, visitors, and businesses can also help identify the key traffic safety concern for Belle Isle residents on the County's Vision Zero Action Plan website: https://www.visionzerocfl.gov/pages/regional-vision-zero-data-dashboard.
We appreciate continued input from the community on these projects. Follow along with these developments through the City’s e-alerts and City Council meetings. Feel free to contact the Planning Department with any questions about these projects. The Planning Department can be reached via email at Planner@BelleIsleFl.Gov or 407-851-7730.

2024 Joint Community Workshop - Feb 15, 2024
Meet the City’s team and learn about two important planning initiatives happening in Belle Isle:
- The Belle Isle Vision Zero Action Plan is part of a regional effort led by MetroPlan Orlando to reduce traffic fatalities and severe injuries, creating safer roads for the 2.2 million residents and 75 million tourists visiting Central Florida annually. Coordinated Vision Zero Action Plans will be created for cities and counties throughout the region, made possible by a $3.8 million federal Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant. Help us identify the key traffic safety concern for Belle Isle residents.
- The 2024 Comprehensive Plan update is the City’s first major update to its Comprehensive Plan in over ten (10) years. This effort will set forth policies related to growth, public infrastructure, the environment, transportation, and other important topics for the City over the next 20+ years. An important part of this project is to acquire public comment so that it is truly a resident-driven document.
Please join us and provide your comments and feedback so this may be the best Comprehensive Plan to help guide the City of Belle Isle through the next generation.
