Business Tax Receipt Application
Are you opening a business in the City of Belle Isle?
Business Tax Receipts are required for the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, profession, or occupation within the City of Belle Isle. You must pay a tax to operate any business within city limits.
A business tax receipt (BTR) is proof of payment, as it is required before a business opens (Residential or Commercial) and you go to Orange County to apply.
If you are a new business planning to operate in the City of Belle Isle, you must file an application for a local BTR before operating. As of July 1, 2023, the City will no longer mail (us postal service) BTR renewal invoices. All renewal notices will be emailed to the address on the application. Please follow the steps below to apply for or renew your Business Tax Receipt with the City of Belle Isle.
1. Check your eligibility
- All businesses will be required to obtain a Certificate of Use in conjunction with a Business Tax Receipt. Certificates of Use will not be required for:
- Individual professionals are state-regulated within a professional office, Residential, Government, Temporary, and Mobile businesses
- Congregate living facilities such as group homes and residential care facilities
- Ensure that you are within city limits and that your business can operate at your location
2. Gather your information

- Your Sunbiz registration
- Your EIN or SSN
- Your State License/Certification (if applicable)
- Home Occupation requirements
3. Fill out an application
- Complete and submit your application and email it to admin@belleislefl.gov or visit City Hall at 1600 Nela Avenue, Belle Isle, FL 32809
- Once we have processed your application, we will email/call you with a billing summary within 10 business days. It will include payment instructions for your business tax receipt and certificate of use (if applicable).
4. Get your business tax receipt - All businesses must have both a city and county tax receipt
- After payment, your business tax receipt and certificate of use (if applicable) will be mailed or emailed to you.
- You must obtain the City of Belle Isle Tax Receipt before going to Orange County. All businesses must have both city and county business tax receipts. The Orange County Tax Collector's Office phone number is 407.434.0312 if more assistance is required.
5. Don't forget to RENEW your business tax receipt
All business tax receipts expire on September 30 of every year. As of July 1, 2023, renewal notices will no longer be mailed. All renewal notices will be emailed to the address on the application. (if opted) during the week of July 1. For more details, please contact City Hall staff at 407-851-7730.
