Public Works Technician

The City of Belle Isle is recruiting for a Public Works Technician.  The position of the Public Works Technician involves semiskilled manual labor and general maintenance activities in the Public Works Department. Work is performed under limited supervision at the direction of the Public Works Director. Many tasks are routine and, once mastered, require little supervision. Department operations include, but are not necessarily limited to, maintenance of streets, sidewalks, right-of-ways, parks, landscape, stormwater systems, urban forestry, and general maintenance activities.

Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities involved stormwater systems, streets, sidewalks, curbs, and rights-of-way systems.  

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented with two years of experience in manual labor maintenance or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. A criminal background check and drug screen will be required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hiring.

Special Requirements

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Valid State of Florida driver’s license. The ability to obtain stormwater certifications within one year of employment. The City will pay for the cost of training.

Salary Range - $15.00 - $18.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience and education). The City of Belle Isle has a competitive benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental care, paid time off (sick and holidays), and a retirement program.
