QUALIFYING PACKET CHECKLIST

Each candidate is responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with Florida Election Law, by way of example, but not limited to, concerning candidacy, financial reporting, and campaign advertising.   The qualifying packet is NOT to be interpreted as a complete package of information or requirements.  The City of Belle Isle and the Office of the City Clerk are NOT responsible for ensuring candidates receive or understand all aspects of law related to candidacy and qualifying.  Please note all of the election forms are available by the Florida Division of Elections to complete online and print for signature - https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/forms-publications/forms/

THE QUALIFYING PERIOD REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Qualification papers must be submitted Monday, November 11, 2024 at noon, through Friday, November 15, 2024 at noon

The necessary forms/applications can be found on the MyFlorida website at https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/forms-publications/forms/

  • Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designating Bank (DS-DE9).
  • Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository. The Form DSDE9 must be filed with the appropriate qualifying officer before the candidate accepts any petition, contribution, or expenditure of any funds, including expenses from personal funds.
  • Campaign Check for $35.00 (City Code Sec 8.06) paid from candidate campaign accounts only (Statute Section 99.061(7)(a).  Payable to the City of Belle Isle.
  • 30 Petition Forms (DS-DE 104) - (Resolution 14-04) - The Office of City Clerk will certify the petition signatures, which require that a minimum of 30 registered voters within the City of Belle Isle sign individual petitions in support of the nomination of a candidate. Submittal of a Petition Form is not a candidate endorsement but allows those seeking local office to be nominated to run.
  • Candidate Oath including Candidate Name Pronunciation Request – Non-Partisan (DS-DE 302NP (Rev 2023)
  • Statement of Candidate (DS-DE84)(Rev)
  • Statement of Financial Interests (CE Form 1 of Form 6) See Update 6/12/2024 from EFDMS

Please contact the Florida Department of State Division of Elections should you have a campaign or reporting questions.  Financial reporting dates and make sure all required reports are filed with the Office of the City Clerk on time to avoid late fees.

Please read all the information in the Florida Statutes carefully. There are deadlines for registering poll watchers, filing specific financial reports, and filing the final financial report.

Neither the City of Belle Isle nor the Office of City Clerk files campaign violation complaints. Individuals who have evidence of a campaign violation in Chapters 104 and 106 and wish to file a complaint may do so by contacting the Florida Department of State Commission on Ethics for information and the required forms. (CE FORM 50)
